We’re stepping into an exciting future with plans to significantly improve our service provision with the purchase of a second lifesaving helicopter.

Thanks to your generosity, we’ve already raised most of the funds – and need to raise the remaining £2.85 million.

£0 a year comes from the government for our services. We rely on your generosity to keep your helicopter in the air.

We’ve launched our #HELi2 appeal to help purchase a second lifesaving helicopter to support our patients who are critically ill or injured from across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Your new AW169 is expected to arrive with us in the early part of 2025.

A new AW169 helicopter will enable us to deliver more missions, advanced care – and in turn, help us save even more lives. This will be the first time that Cornwall Air Ambulance has owned two aircraft and will put us at the forefront of air ambulance critical care provision in the country.

Next generation helicopters don’t come cheap, but the good news is that we already have most of the money towards the cost of a new one. We’re now launching the #HELi2 Appeal, to raise the remaining £2.85million needed to purchase this second helicopter for our patients.

How can you support our #heli2 appeal?

Whether you’re an individual wanting to support our appeal, a community group or a business, there’s lots of ways that you can get involved.

Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we already have most of the money we need to buy a second AW169 helicopter.

We do though still need to raise the remaining £2.85million through the public phase of our appeal.

The AW169 has provided us a step-change in the clinical environment, range and capability we are able to bring to our patients, but such an advanced and complex aircraft has relatively high maintenance needs. Having a second AW169 will mean we consistently have a class-leading clinical space in our aircraft, bringing the capability of a full critical care service to almost every patient who needs it.

Why do we need to buy a second helicopter?

Since the arrival of our first AW169 in 2020, we’ve been tasked to over 3,000 missions. That’s 3,000 families who we have been able to help when they needed us the most. We want to be able to help even more people. Our crew explain in more detail.
